Abdi left Somaliland when he was only four years old. After thirty-five years, at age 40, he visited Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. Abdi grew up in North America. He achieved higher levels of education. Issaq Gass of SLPA ( Somaliland Professional Association –registered in the USA ) asked me to meet him at Gollis University. After, I gave a tour of the University Main Campus, Hargeisa. He was pleased to see the University has many labs for students, i.e. Computer, Engineering, Veterinary Clinic, Telecommunication, English, Solar institute, Geology and Water Resource, Architecture and Urban Planning, etc, labs.
Gollis University and SLPA are partners in working together for projects needed in Somaliland. Many SLPA diaspora Somaliland engage in many activities, including mentoring programs in universities like Gollis University. Mr. Osman plans to come back to Hargeisa for the Thanksgiving break to provide mentoring for students of Gollis University.
Gollis University is thankful for all the initiatives being sponsored by SLPA. The University is also willing to work with the Members of SLPA to initiate programs in Somaliland. The University welcomes Mr. Osman and others to Somaliland.
